I did not believe Dr. Shefferman when he told me my treatment would only take one year, but he did it! After spending 6.5 years at a different orthodontist, Dr. Shefferman saved the day. His staff is wonderful, espically his assistant Marie. The receptionists are so helpful and friendly. The treatment was easy and efficient. His techniques and tools are top of the line and it is obvious that he is constantly learning and seeking to be the best in his trade. He and his staff worked a miracle and I would reccomend them to anyone of any age, but espically college students and young adults. They make you feel comfortable with our braces, not embarassed.

The treatment was quite costly, so I would advise others to check prices against competitors, but he has a wonderful office and excellent staff that are more on top of their game than those in any other doctor's office. I found Dr. Shefferman extremely knowledge in his field and (more importantly to me) have a high level to attention for details. Correcting a bite or straightening teeth is all about minor tweaks toward the end of treatment and having someone who can see the bigger picture and still focus on the finer details is what makes a fabulous orthodontist in my book. I went thru ALOT to get my bite corrected and frankly I never regretted my decision to go to Dr. Shefferman. I never had any doubt that under Dr. Shefferman's care that my teeth and my bite were going to be anything but fabulous.

His Staff is a delight to go see at every appointment. They know their stuff and always encourage questions. They are all sweet as can be.

Highly recommend this orthodontist for adults and children. This is the best doctor's office I've every visited (dentist and otherwise), the most proficient staff. Dr. Shefferman corrected a previous dentist's poor work, improved my bite, helped ease headaches and jaw aches (TMJ). If my children need braces, he's the go-to guy. Cost may seem high but really isn't considering the world-class treatment and service you'll get. Retainers he made for me are very comfortable.

3 years ago I faced the stress and agony of having to get braces for a second time. After meeting 5 orthodontists, I picked Dr. Shefferman and am happy I did. Other orthos told me I had to have surgery and/or extraction. What I liked best about Shefferman was his honest, straightforward and thoughtful answers to my questions. He laid out my options, weighed in my concerns, and together we came up with a treatment plan that worked best for me.

I also chose him because his staff is top notch. It's my belief that the staff is a good indicator for how the doctor(s) is as a person, boss, and provider. And his team is hands down the best I've seen. They generally show interest in their patients, attentive, caring, friendly. Having braces wasn't always a fun process (and I certainly had moments when I wanted to rip them off), but Shefferman and his staff eased the stress and helped make it fun so much that I'll actually miss not going to his office for regular visits.

Now that I'm in retainers, I couldn't be happier with the results. I keep smiling to show them off! I definitely recommend Shefferman to any adult, child or teen considering braces.

I received the Invisalign treatment from Dr. Shefferman. Not only was the treatment a great success, but the quality and support offered by the Doctor and his staff is unmatched in Washington, DC. I was able to see the Doctor at times convenient to me, and after I accidentally broke an Invisalign, they were able to squeeze me in right away. The procedure was nearly pain free and everyone was always friendly, and excited to see me. This procedure was done with the least amount of pain, stress and anxiety imaginable.

As an attorney, it was important for me to have a great smile without the awkwardness of braces. Dr. Shefferman and his staff worked hard to find a great and fast solution. I'd recommend him and his staff to anyone.

As a kid I could NOT stop sucking my thumb, he had the perfect solution and got me to stop! I had my braces put on after 6th grade, I am now 25 years old and my teeth still look fantastic! He was always a fun and polite doctor and made me feel comfortable every time I went in for my tightening.
