Case Description
I am looking for a new dentist in Northern Virginia who can do a terrific job for crowns on molars. My current dentist told me that I need 4 crowns and requires me to pay everything upfront. I have insurance with dental dental. I know that delta dental will cover 50% of the cost of crowns (upto $1500 max per year according to their policy). Can any one please suggest me which dental office accept this insurance and allow me to pay the estimated co-payment at the time of service? Please also tell me how much is the estimated co-payment for a crown. Thank you so much

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Cost Estimate: $ No Estimate at this time. Additional information required.
Our office is a preferred provider for Delta Dental. We also offer the Dental Fee Plan (Capital One) that allows patients more flexible payment options. Depending on your specific level of benefits, I would estimate $350-550 as your estimated portion per crown. We can get a more accurate amount by submitting a pre-treatment estimate to Delta Dental.Keep in mind, the recommended treatment can differ from office to office. Please contact our office if you have any more questions.

Cost Estimate: $$835 per crown
Hello,Our office files for Delta Dental. We charge $835 per crown, so your estimated portion would be half. I would recommend that you set up an exam appointment with the Dentist you choose. This wold accomplish two things. One is that their office can file for a pre-estimate so you know exactly what you will owe. More importantly, you would get the chance to meet and talk to the Dentist and his/her staff to have any questions answered and for you to feel comfortable before you start the needed work.Good luck to you.

Cost Estimate: $approx. $5000 for 4 crowns
Sorry to be blunt, but if you trust your dentist and his recommendations, I would not suggest switching just to find easier financial terms. Delta makes the dentist who participates with them perform the service for a discount, so you may not be comparing apples to oranges. The crowns you are about to get should last much longer than a new car; do you let your car insurance company choose your dealership? You may get lucky and find a great dentist willing to perform this service at a discount, but remember you don't get another set of teeth if something goes wrong.Sincerely,Dr. Rogers
