Case Description
I hate the dentist and have not had dental insurance for years. My job simply doesn't provide it and because I wasn't in pain I never worried about not going to the dentist. However, I am positive I need my upper right molar extracted. I was never in pain, but last week randomly ran my tongue across my tooth and felt a hole in it. I will have dental insurance starting next month through my husband's work (finally) but I don't think this can wait until then. I am positive that I also need a lot of other work done, but I would want to wait to get that done until after my insurance kicks in. I'd like some cost estimates for the entire process of extracting a tooth please.

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Cost Estimate: $200-400
You are not alone in your hate for the dentist. We provide sedation dentistry in our office and many people elect to have their care using this. It is most helpful if you are fearful, but it is costly. Initially I would need to evaluate the tooth and take an x-ray. The cost of my consultation would be $175. The extraction fee can be between $200 - $375 depending on whether it is a surgical extraction or just a simple extraction. These fees do not include any sedation cost. Hope I can assist you
