Case Description
On June 27th, I had the wax try-in for the base on a full upper (my first denture ever). Did midline & measurments, chose shade & picked out smile.
I still have not gotten to go in for the wax try-in for the smile. The lab is local - but they won't tell me who the lab is. This seems like a very long wait - and now the dentist office is closed till the 12th of Aug. The denture is very straight up - nothing special.
What is a normal turnaround? I have been healing wo tempoary since March, and think I should be further along by now.
Thanks

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Hello,I''''m not quite sure why you are asking this question on this forum. If you have been without teeth since March, and have aready chosen a dentist to fabricate your denture, shouldn''''t you be asking him or her this question? Perhaps it''''s just poor timing between your schedule, the dentist''''s vacation and the lab''''s vacation.I''''m also not sure why you would say your denture is "straight-up" and "nothing special." To me, dentures are very personal and specialized no matter who makes them and who wears them.Normal turnaround depends on each dentist and each lab. One particular lab I use has a six week turnaround, other labs can get it back in a week. Sometimes quality takes time.Sincerely,Dr. Michael Rogers

Good Afternoon! Our office uses a lab in CA and normal turnaround from impression appointment to Wax Try-in appointment. Over a month for wax try-in seems a little excessive to me, unless there are other factors involved. If you''''''''''''''''re looking for a second opinion, or have any additional questions please feel free to contact my office anytime at (703) 955-4440. Partials and dentures can be tricky, and the lab may have requested more time. Vacations and holidays make it more difficult. Nonetheless, you should have been informed, and we would have scheduled your delivery appointment before you last walked out the door. With *our* local lab, we can turn around for a second wax try-in within 1-2 weeks, and complete in another week, but labs vary. Unfortunately, unless you want to start over again, which would require paying the fees again, etc., there is probably not much to be done if the office is closed until August. :( Have faith that the result will be stunning and completely worth the wait!
